WOO! We set the date and secured the location, signed the contracts and paid the deposit!
So, now I just wait right? And people will show up? (I mean I posted it, so that's like a save the date, no?). Ok, I know, obvi that's not how this works. We have tons of work ahead of us. Catering decisions, cakes decisions, lots of envelopes and lots of stamps, liquor licenses, officiant, music, the list goes on... But although we have a little less than 10 months to put all the pieces in place, we have the vision. I've HAD the vision, for while now. The dream vision of a fairy tale wedding day, I've had that vision in my head for some time. But it wasn't until I realized it was a thing for me that it really came into clear focus. When I realized it was REAL, I found him, we found each other, we talked about it, it was a thing. A wedding one day. And maybe the funnest part right now (before I have a meltdown t-minus 20 days until its the day) is the vision. Picturing it all. The ceremony, the gardens, the white tent reception, the dance, the kiss, the dress. I am a firm believer in visualizing the things you want the most, and manifesting those things through sheer love, determination, and confidence that your vision will become a reality. And being a designer and maker, I need to visualize. I need to be able to visually relay that idea when explaining and to help myself make it real. That being said, I've renewed my love of Pinterest. Yes, Pinterest. Not that I ever didn't love it, but now that I'm actually planning the day, I can proudly share a wedding board and know that it's my personal space to build the vision. But really, I mostly love it for the pictures. It's a virtual mood board! 90% of the time I pin something it's not to share the pattern for the cute homemade papier-mâché lanterns, it's because I love the visual. I remember back in the day, before Pinterest, in my college fashion classes, Pinterest was the stack of magazines in the back of the classroom, scissors, and some foam boards. Now, I can create that idea and feeling, with colors, floral, dresses, table settings, lighting, decor, all of it, but from the comfort of my iPhone. It's not going to be exactly what's in the pictures of course, but you get the idea. You can see where my head is, So here is my Pinterest board.
You can probably scroll it and quickly see where this is going: Tropical chic, with Grecian/Roman inspiration, black on black bridal party, lush greenery, pops of pink floral, gold accents, clean bright whites.
Simplistic but elegant and memorable. Anyone who is planning to plan, or is planning, I recommend creating a board, and taking a little coffee (or cocktail) time to just sit and pin. Pin, pin, pin. Omg so cute, PINNED!!!
